SSAT/ISEE Test Preparation Class

Building Familiarity with Format & Confidence with Content

Class Description

The Write Ahead ISEE/SSAT classes are small, group classes designed to help students maximize their test scores.  These comprehensive test-prep classes cover math, verbal, reading comprehension, and writing.  Classes cycle through reviewing time-saving strategies to approach the different types of problems, building familiarity through practicing problems/questions, and reviewing questions answered incorrectly.  Encouraging guidance and feedback raise test confidence to reduce the pressure of a timed, mentally demanding test.

The goal of the classes is the inculcation of the testing skills that will optimize scores.  Write Ahead aims to help students set appropriate pacing, become familiar with the range of question types, develop skills to manage anxiety, and identify the questions that are developmentally appropriate to be able to answer.  Essentially Write Ahead seeks to help students correctly answer the questions they know how to answer.

Progress is measured by comparing pre-class test scores to scores on practice sections and practice tests throughout the class.  Scores for every practice section completed are captured and tracked in a spreadsheet that parents can access anytime.  Students and parents have full transparency of their progress.  Students will have homework each week, 20-30 minutes 2-3 days/week if lower level, 30-45 minutes 2-3 days/week if mid or upper level.   Max of 6 students per class.
